A letter from a resident’s spouse–

Thank God for Lauren and the Chalk Hill care home. And I do!

There comes a time for all of us caregivers when we realize that the care for our loved ones exceeds our ability. I had exhausted options for in-home care and day programs. They were not working and I was getting desperate.

Then we found Lauren and her staff at Chalk Hill. It was the right place at the right time. My wife felt welcome and comfortable in their homelike environment. The one-on-one, round the clock attention was what she needed. Though the separation was difficult for me, I immediately felt the care burden lifted and I was comforted knowing that Lauren’s professional staff was providing better care than I ever could.

As my wife declined the staff stepped up and provided ever-increasing care and emotional support. Lauren kept me constantly informed and, along with our doctor, we worked as a team to find and balance the best medication program.

My wife remained at Lauren’s facility until the end. Again, she and her staff stepped up with excellent care and professional cooperation with the Hospice team.

During my wife’s stay I connected with Lauren’s weekly support group meetings. I was reluctant at first but other participants reached out to me and I’m glad they did. Lauren conducts all these meetings herself. The frank, honest discussions, the excellent advice, all delivered with a touch of wit and humor, helped me get through a very difficult time in my life. I stick with the group even now after my wife’s passing.

In summary, you could not hope to find a more caring, knowledgeable, professional team than Lauren and her staff at any of her Solvang, Torrance, or Westchester homes.
