My 90+ year old mother, who had moderate dementia, fell at her home and suffered a serious leg wound. She went from the hospital to a nursing home where her leg was treated. After her Medicare re-imbursement ran out, the nursing home released her. We applied at a large assisted living facility, but they would not take her due to the leg wound which had not fully healed. We then searched for residential homes that would be willing to take a person with dementia and a leg wound. We wanted a place that was clean, was well-staffed, had nursing staff onsite, and offered activities for its residents. We were picky and few places met these criteria. Fortunately we obtained a referral to LAUREN MAHAKIAN who had worked in the elder care and memory care field for many years and was just establishing her first residential home. She had a vision for care that was far superior to any of the other places we looked at. Our family made the decision to place my mother in the hands of Family Connect Memory Care. My mother was their second resident. Within a short time they had 6 residents. We could have not been more pleased with the results. Our mother thought the residence was her own home. She was comfortable and happy. The facility was kept spotlessly clean, and residents were always treated with great respect and dignity. Staff was well-trained, attentive, and friendly. A nurse was on staff and at most times present at the facility. A number of activities were offered daily and residents encouraged to participate. Transportation was made available for doctors visits. Food was healthy and appetizing. Holidays and special events were celebrated with residents’ families encouraged to attend. Each resident had a care program specifically formulated to meet their individual needs. We became friends with LAUREN and her staff and still recall our interactions with them with great fondness. Our family members were welcome to visit at any time and encouraged to do so. If we did encounter any issues or had any concerns, LAUREN was available 24/7 and promptly addressed anything we would bring up. Family Connect Memory Care met and exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend them for care of your loved ones.
